Barbara Ann Corcoran

Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in the entire 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. She has participated in 53 deals as of February of 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children born to an Irish Catholic couple of working class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. became her father throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family often relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran remembers her fatheras a man who sometimes drank too much and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After failing several courses in her first year of high school, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she received a grade of D.
